30 January, 2009 For Immediate Release Meggitt Defense Systems, Inc. (MDSI) announced today that it has been awarded a contract from the Boeing Company for the design, development and testing of the environmental control unit (ECU) for the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet Infrared Search and Track (IRST) system. The IRST ECU will thermally condition the IRST pod sensor electronics throughout the flight envelop of the Super Hornet. Commenting on the award, Gerry Janicki, Director of MDSI’s Thermal Systems business said, “We are extremely proud to have won this contract, and are delighted to demonstrate Meggitt’s design and support capabilities.” The work will be performed at the MDSI facility in Irvine, CA. between 2008 and 2013.
